University Hospital Galway has the second highest number of COVID cases in the country following a recent surge.
There were 68 confirmed cases at UHG as of Sunday night in the latest figures from the HSE released this morning.
This is twice as many cases as there were at University Hospital Galway a week ago.
This has so far not been matched by a corresponding surge in patients admitted to intensive care.
There are six COVID-19 cases in the Intensive care unit at UHG, unchanged in the past week.
At Portiuncula Hospital there were a further 10 confirmed cases, one of whom is in the ICU.
There were 1,004 cases in hospital nationwide, fuel first time since last February when hospital numbers have passed 1,0000.
Among these nationwide figures, there are 82 COVID patients in the ICU.
Health officials reported a further 21,384 confirmed cases in the country yesterday.
