A fundraiser has been set up for improved sports facilities at Letterfrack National School in Connemara, which has currently has no indoor space for physical education.
Pupils at Letterfrack National School have to go outside for PE, and while the school has a good sized grass pitch, it becomes very water logged when it rains. This means that the children often miss out on essential daily exercise.
The school also has a small and very old tarmac area but due to a lack of funding, the tarmac is now crumbling and can be very dangerous for pupils to run on.
The Parents Association is planning a number of events throughout the year to raise funds to enable the school to invest in a small all-weather area so that the children can exercise outdoors safely whatever the weather.
Work has begun and the foundation has been laid, and the GoFundMe campaign will help to purchase the all-weather surface required as well as a mesh fence.
