University Hospital Galway is the most overcrowded hospital in Ireland today, with more than fifty patients on trolleys.

INMO Trolley/Ward Watch figures show that there are 48 patients on without a bed at the Emergency Department in UHG this morning, and a further 6 in the wards.

University Hospital Galway has been dealing with outbreaks of COVID-19 in the hospital this week, which have put additional pressure on the availability of beds.

Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe is also experiencing severe pressure on beds today, with patients without a bed.

Nationwide there are 449 people on trolleys in Ireland’s public hospitals this morning.

University Hospital Galway is the worst affected, with 54 patients waiting for a bed, followed by Letterkenny UH (48), and Cork UH (46).
