A Boil Water Notice for Glenamaddy residents is going into its third week, though repair works are hoped to be completed soon.
A Boil Water Notice was issued for people living in Glenamaddy, Cloonminda, Bushtown, and on the Knockmascahill Group Water Scheme on September 30.
The notice affects approximately 800 people supplied by Glenamaddy Public Water Supply. It was issued due to problems with the ultra violet disinfection of the water at the Water Treatment Plant.
Experts from Irish Water and Galway County Council are currently undertaking works to improve the filtration systems at the treatment plant.
Irish Water has said that it is expected these works will be completed in “the coming days”, and once they are samples of the filtered water will be taken again.
People living in the area of the Glenamaddy Public Water Supply Scheme will notice increased levels of chlorine in their water in the coming days as repairs continue.
In the meantime, people in the affected areas should continue to boil their water for drinking, preparation of uncooked foods, or brushing their teeth.
