Louise Laheen Duggan from Menlough has been announced as a regional winner and finalist in Right at Home’s Carer of the Year Awards.
Nominations for this year’s award for Carer of the Year were submitted by clients, their families, co-workers, managers, and supervisors.
Louise now progresses to the final round of judging over the coming weeks and joins six finalists from across Ireland who will attend a special awards ceremony in November where the national winner will be announced.
Right at Home’s Carer of the Year Awards recognise and acknowledge the work and commitment of Care Staff who play an instrumental role in their communities, enabling individuals to continue to live independent lives in the comfort of their own homes.
Speaking about the awards, Natalie Crowe, Managing Director of Right at Home Galway, said that the awards were introduced 2020 to further recognise those who go above and beyond for the people they care for.
“We are extremely proud of each individual’s hard work and dedication, especially given the difficult circumstances brought by Covid-19,” said Natialie.
“For many clients, they were the only people they met for a number of months and although a sad and difficult reality of Covid-19, it was a huge comfort to clients to know they had the support of their Carer.”
She said that they are delighted to announce Louise as their regional winner for Carer of the Year and they are very grateful to have Louise as part of the Right at Home team.
“Every single day, Louise meets her clients with a friendly smile, ensuring no stone is unturned to meet the needs of her clients. For Carers, it’s more than just a job, it’s a friendship and Louise’s kindness and hard work is appreciated by so many.
“The many wonderful words from Louise’s clients and their families is testament to this. We wish Louise the very best of luck at the national final in November, and no matter the outcome, we will be extremely proud.”
Speaking about her award, Louise said: “I am honoured to receive this award and to progress to the final in November, representing Galway and my fantastic colleagues. We really do appreciate the recognition.
“We love what we do which is why we are so passionate and of course, there are always going to be challenges, Covid-19 being a challenge of course, but we face these obstacles and overcome them.”
The national winner of Right at Home’s ‘Carer of the Year’ will be announced at an awards ceremony in Dublin this November.
