There have been a further 562 new cases of COVID-19 reported by the Department of Health today.

As of this morning there were 48 people in Ireland hospitalised with COVID-19, of whom 14 are in the Intensive Care Unit.

There is no county breakdown of the daily figures available.

These daily case numbers may be changed in the future following data validation and review.

The HSE has said that all of Ireland’s adult population could be vaccinated by the end of August or early September.

This comes after a change in advice, allowing the use of the Janssen and AstraZeneca vaccines in young people.

It was announced yesterday that people age 18 to 34 could register with their pharmacy to receive the Jannsen vaccine, and pharmacies around the country have been inundated with inquiries.
