Nine Galway charities have received a total of €4,500 in donations from Aldi as a part of the supermarket’s Community Grants programme.
Each Galway based charity received a €500 grant after being chosen by staff members at an Aldi store in Galway.
The latest donations was made to Galway Mountain Rescue, with the cheque handed over by Gary Monaghan, an employee at Aldi Knocknacarra.
East Galway and Midlands Cancer Support, MADRA Dog Rescue, Jigsaw Galway, Down Syndrome Galway, Gort Cancer Support, Galway Mountain Rescue, Galway CF Hospital Project, and Ability West’s Portumna Adult Day Service.
John Curtin, Group Buying Director, said “We are very proud to have been able to contribute to supporting local charities across the country through the Aldi Community Grants programme and we’re pleased to see the impact of our donation in the local communities for Galway.”

To date, the community grants programme has made donations totalling €375,000 to 750 organisations in Ireland.
