The HSE’s Public Health Department have reported an outbreak of COVID-19 among GMIT and NUI Galway students.
GMIT reported that on Saturday that the outbreak has been declared among students living in Galway City.
An email has been sent to the student body in the city by the GMIT COVID Officer.
Students who know of a recent positive case among their social circle, or who otherwise think they may have been exposed, are urged to get a test this weekend.

NUI Galway has also reported this weekend that an outbreak has been declared by the HSE among the student body.
A Public Health Risk Assessment has been carried which has identified many close contacts of known cases.
The Student Health Unit is running a COVID Only service this weekend for students to get tested.
If they have symptoms of COVID-19, students are asked to contact their GP, or the university Health Unit at 087-2623997 between 9am and 9pm.
Students who do not have symptoms, but have a recent positive case in their social network and think they may have been exposed are asked to call 087-7058717 between 10am and 4pm this weekend.
