Residents of Barna, Moycullen, and Knocknacarra in Galway City may experience water supply disruption today while repairs are underway on a major burst water main.
Irish Water is working with Galway City Council to carry out urgent repairs to maintain the water supply following a burst water main on the Letteragh Road.
While repairs are underway this afternoon, homes and businesses in Barna, Moycullen, Knocknacarra north of the Western Distributor Road, and surrounding areas will experience low water pressure and water outages.
No estimated time has yet been provided for the completion of these works.
Full water supply may take 2-3 hours to return as water refills the network after repairs are completed.
Irish Water is urging people in the affected areas to conserve water as much as possible, while still complying with HSE guidance on COVID-19 hygiene
Simple water conservation efforts can have a big impact on reducing demand on the supply such as not running taps needlessly, taking showers instead of baths and to postpone using dishwashers and washing machines where possible.
