Met Éireann has issued a weather warning ahead of ‘hazardous conditions’ tomorrow night, with wintry showers forecast across the country.
Temperatures are set to fall to zero degrees Celsius on Saturday night, with hail, sleet and snow expected in many areas across Connacht.
The weather experts have warned road users that ice will lead to dangerous conditions.
The status yellow warning extends across all counties in the Republic, and will start at 6pm on Saturday, lasting until midday on Sunday.
Tonight will also be cold, with a sharp frost and icy patches forming early in the night.
Wintry showers will continue for a time but it will be mainly dry with long clear spells developing in Galway. Lowest temperatures tonight will be between -3 and 0 degrees in a light westerly breeze.
