Traffic disruption is expected on the M17/M18 Gort to Tuam motorway next week due to rolling lane closures in order to install new signage.
Galway County Council has said that there will be lane closures on the northbound and southbound lanes from Monday to Thursday in order to install permanent Variable Message Signs.
On Monday the M17 southbound will be closed at Junction 20 Kilmore (Tuam) from 9:30am – 3:30pm.
Diverted traffic will be signposted back to Junction 19 Annagh Hill to rejoin the M17 Southbound motorway.
On Tuesday, January 19 Junction 20 will be closed once again, and Junction 19 Annagh Hill will also be closed from 9:30am to 3:30pm.
Traffic will be diverted through Claregalway on the N83 and onto Oranmore, taking the M6 back to the M17 M18 Junction at Rathmorrisey.
On Wednesday the M18 northbound will be closed at Junction 16 Gort from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Traffic will be diverted via Ardrahan to rejoin the motorway at Junction 17 Kiltiernan.
The final day of closures on Thursday will see the M18 closed at junctions 16 and 17 for the same time period.
Diverted traffic will go through Kilcolgan and Clarinbridge, onto the M6, and reconnect with the M17/M18 at Rathmorrisey.
Full diversion routes will be signposted, and the the closed junctions will be manned by ALIS TM Technicians.
