Galway Daily news Met Eireann issues Fog warning as motorists advised to exercise caution

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow weather warning for County Galway which will come into force tonight.

The warning was issued ahead of dense fog overnight, with the weather experts saying there is a risk of freezing fog in places.

All counties in the Republic are included in the status yellow alert which will begin at midnight tonight before being lifted on 10 o’clock on Monday morning.

Tonight is set to be another cold night with clear spells, but scattered showers will affect some areas. Lowest temperatures will be between -3 and +1 degrees.

Frost will occur overnight and light northerly or variable breezes will allow the dense fog to develop in parts.

Tomorrow morning (Sunday) will be cold and frosty, with fog lingering in some places for much of the day.

It will however be a mostly dry day, with some sunny spells and just well scattered showers along the coast.

Highest temperatures will be between 2 and 5 degrees with light variable breezes.

Some patchy rain will develop in coastal areas later in the evening, Met Éireann says.
