Six confirmed COVID patients hospitalised in Galway, but none in ICU

The minor reversal in the trend of COVID-19 hospital numbers in Galway has continued, with six confirmed cases at UHG according to the latest figures.

As of 8pm on Monday there were six confirmed patients receiving treatment for COVID-19 at UHG, while Portiuncula in Ballinasloe remains free of confirmed cases.

There are a further four suspected cases at University Hospital Galway, and two at Portiuncula Hospital.

Fortunately, both hospitals remain free of COVID patients in Intensive Care, either confirmed or suspected.

Nationally there are 266 confirmed cases in hospital as of Monday night, along with 104 suspected cases.

Of those, there are 34 confirmed and two suspected patients receiving treatment in the ICU.

The Department of Health reported just 10 new cases in Galway yesterday, with the 14 day incidence rate falling to 81 cases per 100,000 population.

This while the national figures showed 456 daily cases, and five further deaths reported.
