Galway Daily news Storm Ellen: Update on road blockages and fallen debris

Galway Couunty Council is continuing to deal with the aftermath of Storm Ellen today as reports have been flooding in this morning about debris blocking roads.

Extremely damaging winds battered Galway last night, along with all of the south and west of Ireland, with a status orange wind warning in effect until 6am this morning.

Today, county council road crews have been dealing with multiple roads blocked due to fallen trees, downed telephone poles, and flooding from heavy rains.

People on the roads today are urged to be careful of any debris when driving, and to stay clear of any fallen ESB cables, as they could still be live.

The council has provided an updated list of debris and road blockages it is dealing with today as of 11am this morning:

For weather-related issues, such as fallen trees, flooding etc, the county council is asking people to report them at 091 509 069, or email roads@galwaycoco.ie.

Galway City seems to have escaped without much damage from Storm Ellen, with just some localised flooding and spots of debris reported.
