Galway Daily news Status Orange weather warning issued for Storm Isha

As the country prepares for Storm Ellen on Wednesday night, Met Éireann has upgraded its wind warning for Galway to Status Orange.

The storm is expected to bring a period of severe and potentially damaging winds and there is a risk of flooding due to heavy rain.

Met Éireann say there is an added risk of coastal flooding due to the combination of storm surge, spring tides and onshore winds.

The weather warning comes into effect tomorrow, Wednesday, at 9pm and will remain in place overnight until 12.00pm on Thursday.

Six other counties along the south and west have been issued a status orange warning, while a status yellow warning has been issued for the rest of the country.
