A status yellow weather warning for Galway and the entire southern half of the country with heavy rain, hail, and thunder forecast on Saturday evening.
The weather warning, which will be in place until 9pm on Saturday, warns of a risk of thunderstorms this evening.
These could cause heavy localised downpours, hail showers, and localised flooding Met Eireann has said.
The alert covers all of Munster, as well as counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Wexford, Offaly, Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.
A separate warning has been issued for Wexford, Cork and Waterford warning of heavy rain today and overnight.
This will be especially strong in coastal areas, with a risk of localised flooding.
The warning will be in force until 6am on Sunday morning.
