As we enter the last week in July, many are wondering if we get a summer at all this year – and according to Met Éireann, we’ll have to wait until August at least.
But it might not be all bad, as warmer temperatures are forecast for later this week.
This evening (Monday) will see some bright and sunny spells in many areas across Galway, and temperatures could reach 18 degrees this afternoon. Tomorrow morning will start in much the same way, but the brighter weather will give way to more clouds in the afternoon. The highest temperatures tomorrow are expected to be around 15 or 16 degrees.
Wednesday will be cloudy across the west with outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving in off the Atlantic, very gradually spreading across the rest of the country later in the day.
It will be relatively cool on Wednesday with temperatures reaching just 14 to 17 degrees, in light to moderate southerly breezes.
It will be mild, humid and misty on Wednesday night with further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, with temperatures not dipping below 11 degrees.
The warmer weather will arrive on Thursday, with highs of 19 to 23 degrees in the West. Unfortunately, the milder temperatures are not expected to be accompanied by extended periods of sunshine, but Galway could see some sunny spells on Thursday evening after a mostly cloudy day.
Early indications are that Friday will be warm again, but scattered showers are forecast throughout the morning and afternoon. There will be brighter spells and some sunshine in the afternoon though.
