There were no deaths related to COVID-19 reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Centre today, but 11 new cases have been confirmed.
The number of confirmed cases in Galway City and County has risen by one today, to reach a total of 487.
There have now been a total of 25,542 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Republic of Ireland, and the pandemic has claimed 1,738
Validation of data by the HPSC has resulted in the denotification of four deaths and seven previously confirmed cases, which is reflected in these national tallies.
Dr. Ronan Glynn, Acting Chief Medical Officer said that a “key element” of the national response is ensuring that anyone with symptoms comes forward for testing.
“Please do not adopt a ‘wait-and-see’ approach,” Dr Glynn said, “Instead, isolate yourself and contact your GP without delay.”
The National Public Health Emergency Team will meet again on Thursday to review Ireland’s response and preparedness in the pandemic.

The new COVID-19 Tracker contact tracing app launched by the HSE has been downloaded more than 860,000 times since it went live yesterday.
