A total of 42 charities in Galway have received donations from AIB, as part of the bank’s community investment programme.
Galway Rape Crisis Centre and Tuam Cancer Care were among the charities to receive funds after the 14 AIB branches in the county donated €1,000 each.
€200,000 has been made available to branches across the country as part of AIB Together, and Evin Cusack, Head of AIB Galway and Mayo, said that the bank is delighted to be associated with such a great initiative.
“The donation of €1,000 from each of our 14 Galway branches is an important way of showing our continuing support for local communities across Galway City and County,” he said.
“I am extremely proud that AIB Galway staff are also continuing their individual fundraising efforts and that the bank has agreed to match any funding raised for certain named charities.”
Separately, AIB has launched a fundraising initiative to further support communities impacted by the current pandemic.
The bank wants to raise €1million from colleagues – which will be matched by €1million from the business – creating an overall ambition of giving €2million to communities most in need. Over €337,000 has been raised so far, including the matched funding.
Some of the Galway charities which received funding under the AIB Together programme are Connemara Care CLG, Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit, Cruinniu Magh Cuilinn, Galway Rape Crisis Centre, Galway Community Circus, Jigsaw Galway Branch, Tuam Cancer Care, St Olivers Child Education And Development Centre, Galway Hospice , Loughrea Family resource Centre Limited, Abbey Duniry Scouts Group, Gort Resource Centre, Gort Cancer Care, East Midlands Care and Ballinasloe Meals and Wheels.
