Aisling Dolan says she’ll fight for East Galway from the Seanad

Newly appointed Senator Aisling Dolan has said that she will “fight for investment” in East Galway from the Seanad.

The Ballinasloe County Councillor was one of eleven new Senators appointed by Taoiseach Micheál Martin over the weekend.

She said that it is “An honour and a privilege to be a member of the incoming Oireachtas and fight for our fair share of investment.”

“As a Councillor, I’ve worked with colleagues across the political spectrum to get projects over the line and this experience will be crucial in the Upper House of the Oireachtas.”

“I will now have the opportunity to dedicate myself full-time as a Senator to fight for investment into East Galway and Roscommon, continuing the excellent work carried out by my party colleague Maura Hopkins and previously Michael Mullins.”

Senator Dolan was a first time county councillor, elected to represent the Ballinasloe Municipal District in the 2019 local elections as an Independent candidate.

She also stood for Fine Gael in the general election back in February after joining the party the previous November, contesting a seat in the Roscommon-Galway constituency.

Speaking about her appointment, Fine Gael Councillor Jimmy McClearn said “As the longest serving Fine Gael councillor on Galway County Council, I’m delighted for Aisling Dolan on her appointment to Seanad Eireann.”

“Her hard work, enthusiasm and energy will be of huge benefit to the Roscommon- Galway constituency.”
