Galway Daily sport Online Book of Condolences for Brendan Coffey

An online Book of Condolences has been opened for the much loved Galway character Brendan Coffey, who passed away last Sunday night.

A fixture of Galway for many decades, Brendan was known for his avid support of Galway GAA and his signature greeting, calling all he meet Boss with a booming voice.

Aged in his 70s, he passed away on Sunday after an illness.

Born in Dublin in 1945, Brendan Coffey lived in Renmore with the assistance of the Brothers of Charity.

Mayor of Galway City, Councillor Mike Cubbard, opened the online Book of Condolences for him, and it will be available to the public for the entry of messages of sympathy.

Mayor Cubbard said that Brendan Coffey was “One of Galway’s larger than life characters and will be greatly missed by many.”

“He was a loyal Galway GAA fan and loved the maroon and white. My thoughts and prayers are with his Brothers of Charity friends and family, his GAA friends and family, and all his other dear friends near and far at this sad time”.

The Book of Condolences is available at galwaycity.ie/brendan-coffey and will remain open until Friday 26th June 2020.
