A man has been arrested and is due before court this week in relation to a cocaine seizure made at a Covid-19 checkpoint near Ballinasloe.
Gardaí from Ballinasloe found €9,000 worth of cocaine in a car coming off the M6 motorway on Sunday night.
The officers were carrying out a Covid-19 checkpoint as part of Operation Fanacht, monitoring travel restrictions over the bank holiday weekend.
The driver of the car was arrested and detained at Ballinasloe Garda Station.
This morning, Monday, May 4 the young man was charged and released by Gardaí.
He is due to appear before Ballinasloe District Court on Thursday, May 7 at 10:30am.
