Thirty-six more people in Ireland have died after being diagnosed with COVID-19 coronavirus, the National Public Health Emergency Team has confirmed.

Twenty-seven deaths caused by coronavirus were located in the east, six in the north and three deaths were in the south.

There were 345 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus in the Republic as of 1pm today, taking the total number of cases in the state to 5,709.

There are now 128 cases in Galway according to the latest county breakdown of figures.

That’s an increase of 16 cases from the previous day.
