An Post has started delivering newspapers to older and more vulnerable people free of charge as part of a range of new services to help the community during the crisis.
The new service sees postal workers delivering newspapers in urban and rural areas and a range of daily and weekly newspapers are available.
People can subscribe to the newspaper of their choice provided it is listed, and it is hoped that this service will help be of some comfort to older people who are unable to leave their homes during the crisis.
Delivering newspapers is just one new service that An Post has brought in – last week it started a service whereby postmen and postwomen across Ireland call in to check on older people along their delivery routes.
Minister Ciaran Cannon welcomed the new services offered by An Post, saying: “Not everyone accesses their daily news online and a service like this will bring an extra layer of assurance for people as it will keep them in touch and up-to-date with events and help further stave off uncertainty.”
“I urge anyone who knows of a family member who would like this service to access further details at https://www.anpost.com/Community-Support/Newspaper-deliveries .”
