Galway Daily news Tesco submit cafe plans for Ballinasloe supermarket

Plans have been submitted to the county council for the construction of a new café at Tesco in Ballinasloe.

Tesco Ireland are seeking planning permission to build a café with a floor space of 232sqm in what is currently the car park at Tesco in Dunlo, Ballinasloe.

The proposed building will be used for “the preparation and sale of food and beverages for consumption on and off the premises.”

The proposed development also includes signage, bin storage, and outdoor seating area, and a new footpath.

According to the planning application, having a standalone café in this area will “improve the customer experience at this retail centre and provide an active space for this site.”

It was also stated that the café will operate “ancillary to the established Tesco supermarket” rather than drawing traffic away from the town centre.

A Traffic and Transport Assessment submitted with the application states that the amount of extra traffic generated for the junction would be “immaterial”, and easily accommodated.

Galway County Council is due to decide whether to grant planning permission by April 19.
