Some of Ireland’s most incredible artists have donated their work to go under the hammer at auction in support of MADRA this weekend.

The auction, hosted by Colm O’Donnellan from O’Donnellan and Joyce, will take place this Saturday to raise funds for the Connemara based dog rescue and adoption charity.

Work from well known names such as Finbar McHugh, Padraig McCaul and Martin Mooney will be up for sale in a double blessing for art and dog lovers.

“We have stunning artworks available with an amazing variety of subjects and styles,” explains MADRA co-founder and director, Marina Fiddler.

Marina added that they are honoured that so many talented artists have donated their work to contribute to this day.

“We have amazing support from dog lovers throughout the year, but the annual art auction is a way for us to reach out to a wider audience, who receive something unique in return.”

The list of talented artists also includes Vanda Luddy, Mary Horan, Grace Cunningham, David Lee, Joe O’Shaughnessy, Joan Finnegan, Arja Sweeney, Sylvia Parkinson-Brown, Sarah Henderson, Michael Tierney, Patricia Kavanagh, Larry Reynolds, Patricia Byrne, Peter Skelton, Conor Gallagher, Gala Tomasso and many more.

It is such an important fundraiser for us and it is wonderful to see some of Ireland’s best artists using their talent to help MADRA. It is an incredible opportunity to purchase beautiful artwork, and all for a good cause.”

Prices for the art up for grabs range from €30 to €3,000. So there is something there for everyone and no-one should be put off by the prospect of intimidating price tags.

The auction will take place at the Portershed off Eyre Square on Saturday, December 7, with items going under the hammer from 3pm.

Paintings can be viewed in advance at the Portershed from 9am to 5pm daily and from 12pm-3pm on Saturday.
