The Galway based medtech company Complete Laboratory Solutions has announced that it will be creating 100 new jobs in Galway.
CLS, Ireland’s largest privately owned contract laboratory, made the jobs announcement today at the ‘Med in Ireland’ conference at the RDS in Dublin.
The Ros Muc based company will be adding another 100 people to its existing workforce of 191, with the new jobs being created over the next two years.
CLS was founded in 1994 by Evelyn O’Toole, who was committed to using her redundancy money from a previous job to create a way for scientists like her to live and work in the west of Ireland.
Today it provides laboratory sampling and analysis from their highly trained staff for over 600 clients in medical devices, pharmaceutical, food and environmental industries.
The ‘Med in Ireland’ conference taking place in Dublin today is welcoming over 300 international buyers for meetings with 100 Irish medtech and lifesciences companies.
Medtech has become a huge part of the Irish economy, employing over 40,000 people, making Ireland the largest per capita medtech employer in the EU.
Last year also saw the lifesciences sector record a seven percent growth in exports to €173 billion.
Speaking at the event, Minister of State for Trade, Employment and Business Pat Breen said ‘Med in Ireland’ is a great way for international organisations to meet with established and emerging Irish companies.
“In Ireland we present a unique collaborative environment for industry with our vibrant network of highly innovative indigenous companies, large well established FDI multinationals, a continually developing world-class research base and a strong industry-focussed clinical community.”
Stephen Green, Executive Director of Enterprise Ireland said “Ireland’s world class innovation and research ecosystem are now driving global market penetration for Irish made products and services.
“Enterprise Ireland has put a focus on facilitating successful partnerships, between indigenous Irish companies, globally reputable healthcare systems and medtech manufacturers.”
“Over 1,200 one-to-one company and buyer meetings will take place today. This event will help improve the efficiency of bringing new Irish medtech products and services to market to benefit and improve patient experiences all over the world.”
