Met Eireann is keeping a close eye on a hurricane in the Atlantic Ocean which is heading in the direction of Ireland.

Hurricane Lorenzo is expected to be ‘in the vicinity’ on Thursday, but it will likely be an ex-tropical storm by that stage.

However, Met Eireann says its exact track and central pressure remain very uncertain.

The weather experts say it is likely to stay to the west of Ireland and it will become mild over the country due to the influence of the tropical origin air.

“The risk of severe weather continues and the progress of Lorenzo and any potential impacts for Ireland are being closely monitored,” said Met Eireann.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) will start out damp, blustery and cloudy with patchy rain and drizzle. This will make way for brighter, clearer and mainly dry weather during the morning.

It will be cool, with maximum temperatures of just 13 or 14 degrees.
