Galway Daily Arts & culture submissions open for 25th Junior Film Fleadh

The Galway Junior Film Fleadh is celebrating a milestone 25th birthday this year and there’s still time for young filmmakers to submit their movies.

The 25th Junior Galway Film Fleadh will take place this year from Sunday, November 10 to Thursday, November 14 at the Pálás arthouse cinema.

The Junior Film Fleadh starts with a weekend full of film premieres and film-making workshops, followed by a week of European language films for students studying French, German, Spanish and Irish.

There will also be an Irish film outreach programme, details of which will be announced in early October.

Submissions are currently open for persons aged between 12 – 14 years and 15 – 18 years, with a selection of the best short films to be screened in front of audiences during the fleadh.

Any genre/style from Documentary, Animation, Drama, Action, Musical, Comedy, Sci-Fi, Horror, or any mix thereof is acceptable. No limits are being placed on the creativity of young artists.

The only rules are that it must be under 12 minutes and have been made since December 2017.

People submitting to the fleadh must include the highest quality version of their finished film, as well as a still photo for the film and a short description.

Prizes include a €250 grand prize, work experience on Film Fleadh TV in July 2020 (you must be 18 to qualify for this prize) and a week’s summer animation or drama camp sponsored by Galway Film Centre.

Entry forms can be found here. The closing date for submissions is Wednesday, October 9.
