One man raised over €3,000 for the Galway Simon Community in its fight against homelessness by climbing 32 peaks in Ireland just a teeny tiny bit over a month.

Paul McManus, Ballina, Co. Mayo helped purchase supplies for the Youth Service at the Galway Simon Community by raising €3,298.90 with his climbathon to the highest peaks in every county in Ireland.

“We would like to thank our friend Paul McManus who raised €3,298.90 for Galway Simon by climbing the highest peaks of 32 counties in 32 days,” an online post by the charity said.

“With this fund he generously purchased essentials for our Youth Service this week including beds, mattresses, kitchenware and curtains.”

The GSC Youth Service works with young adults aged 18 – 25 to help keep them put of the cycle of homelessness through skills training and other educational and employability supports.

This service runs four apartments which provide a roof for eight young people who have access to regular staff support.
