University Hospital Galway has the second highest number of people waiting for a bed in Ireland for the second consecutive day.

There are 50 people on trolleys at the hospital today, just 6 less than University Hospital Limerick which is the most overcrowded again.

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation’s report today says that 462 people are on trolleys across the country.

That’s up from 447 yesterday, when there were 37 people waiting for a bed at UHG.

Throughout June, 546 people waited on a trolley at University Hospital Galway.

That figure for the month of June in 2006 was just 65.
