Galway Daily news Country Music night raises thousands for UHG oncology ward

Martina Cleary from Glenamaddy visited UHG this week to present a cheque for €4,250 to the Oncology Unit.

Back in 2012 Martina was a patient in the Oncology Unit and has been generously supporting the unit and the life saving work it does ever since.

In April of this year she and her father Joe Cunniffe organised a country music night in Glenamaddy to raise money for UHG.

This is the fifth time that they have help a fundraising country music night, taking in more than €21,000 for the hospital since 2013.

Everyone involved in the event gave their services free of charge so that all money raised was donated to the Oncology Unit.

The cheque was presented to staff at the Oncology Day Ward at UHG pictured above. Seen from the left are Kate Lyons, Staff Nurse; Martina Cleary presenting the cheque to Claire Davey, Clinical Nurse Manager 2; and Dolores Browne, Staff Nurse.
