Galway Daily life & style 48 Hour challenge with Little Cinema Galway

If you’re a filmmaker who works best under pressure, then the 48 Hour Challenge with Little Cinema Galway might be just the thing for you.

Little Cinema and Galway City of Film are once again running this challenge which will see 10 teams competing to write, shoot, and edit a short film all in just two days for a €500 grand prize.

Each team will create a five minute film over June 7 – 9 from 11am, with a screening later that evening at the Town Hall Theatre.

This year, just to throw in an extra wrinkle, people taking part in the challenge will have to incorporate a random prop, a given line and a genre “just to make it a bit more difficult!”.

Applications are now open for teams to join the challenge. Each team must have at least six members, and the competition has space for ten teams.

The 48 Hour Challenge will launch at the Portershed at 11am on June 7 and run to 11am on June 9.

This will give time for the films to be made ready for a screening at the Town Hall Theatre in front of judges and an audience.

The judges will be industry professionals and on top of an overall winner for the €500 prize they will select winners for Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Use of Line, Best Use of Prop and an Audience vote of favorite film.

The winner of the 2018 48 Hour Challenge was Connection Interrupted by Conor Quinlan & Team Timo which can be viewed at thelittlecinema.com/48hour.

The application fee is €80 and application forms can be downloaded here and here.
