Plans have been submitted to Galway county council for a €3.5 million production facility at Parkmore West Business and Technology Park.
Parkmore Land Investments Limited is seeking planning permission for a production facility with ancillary offices, staff facilities, external plant and gas storage areas, and a secure delivery yard.
The production facility includes a production line and a laboratory for research and development.
The total floor space of the proposed industrial facility is 4,133m².
If this development is allowed to proceed, Parkmore Land Investments say it has the potential to employ 207 people.
The parking requirement for a project of this scale is 205 spaces under the county development plan guidelines, but this application proposes 118 car parking spaces.
The reason for this according to the developer is the proximity of a high frequency 401 and 409 bus services nearby and an estimate of 157 vehicles coming to the site daily.
For people coming to the facility by bicycle, the plans currently with the council also include 42 bicycle spaces.
The site for the proposed office and production facility is currently an undeveloped plot of land at Parkmore Business Park.
If planning permission is granted, it’s currently estimated that this project will take 16 – 18 months to complete.
Submissions about this project can be made until May 7 to Galway county council, which is due to make a decision on this planning application by May 28.
