Galway city council are promoting a “Clean Up Weekend” this month to get the city into shape for the Best Kept Towns competition.

Ireland’s Best Kept Towns competition has nominated Galway city under the Best Kept Large Urban Centre Award category.

Galway City Council are promoting a “Clean up Weekend” on the April 26 – 28 to coincide with other “Clean Up Days” currently taking place throughout the City.

A spokesperson for the city council said “We encourage everyone to get involved in some shape or form in order to get Galway City looking its best.”

The city council will be providing bags, gloves, and litter pickers at city hall for people organising clean ups.

Ireland’s Best Kept towns Competition is an all-island initiative organised jointly by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Northern Ireland Amenity Council.
