‘Rosie the Red Limousin heifer’ went for €2,500 on the block in Ennis this week, with all proceeds going directly to Galway Hospice.

The Conroy family donated Rosie for auction in memory of Josephine Conroy of Whitegate, Galway who passed away this year.

On Facebook, Fiona Conroy offered her sincere thanks to Martin McNamara and the staff of Clare Marts Ltd.

She also thanked Brendan Keane and his family who purchased Rosie and “To our local community for all the support we received and also everyone who travelled to Ennis today.”

The auction took place at Ennis Mart last Thursday, December 13.

The final sum raised, through the sale of Rosie and “donations kindly contributed” will be known by the end of the week.

Galway Hospice is the main palliative care unit in the city, with both inpatient and day care facilities.
