A major housing development of 37 new homes at Curragrean, Roscam has been granted planning permission by the city council.
The housing development will consist of ten 4-bed semi-detached houses, two 3-bed semi-detached houses, and eight 3-bed terraced houses.
There would also be a four/five storey apartment block with four 1-bed apartments, eleven 2-bed apartments, and two 3-bed apartments.
Renaissance Property Ltd submitted an application for this development with the city council on June 26.
Twenty eight submission were made by members of the public concerned about this housing development.
Council planners said the main concerns expressed were about the increased traffic congestion it would bring to the area, inadequate car parking, and the loss of mature trees.
The site will be accessed from the existing distributor road which provides entrance and exit to the neighbouring estates.
The developers were required to re-locate the attenuation system so as not to dame age the high-quality mature trees at the south west corner of the site.
Galway City Council gave permission for the housing development to go ahead with 25 separate conditions attached.
