Tommy Larkins GAA Club has published its 50th anniversary book, which has been described as a ‘splendidly presented compendium of local sporting history and success’.

The book is now available in a number of local outlets.

Minister Ciaran Cannon congratulated the club on its publication of the book and said that the club is unique.

“The Club is unique in that it takes its title from two different Tommy Larkins – the young Tommy Larkin who died in Kilkenny Jail at the time of the Woodford evictions of the 1880s and Fr Tom Larkin, who was a native of Abbey, PP Ballinakill and the founder of the Ballinakill Céilí Band,” he said.

The book is comprised of 240 pages and it includes a large number of photographs of past and present teams and members.

Minister Cannon said that it is a “splendidly presented compendium of local sporting history and success which will be of huge interest to anyone with a link to the Club including members of the Woodford and Ballinakill diaspora.

“Those looking to add a copy to their bookshelves are advised to do so as soon as possible as supplies are limited.

“I wish to compliment the editorial team of Angela Shiel, Edel Hanley, Keith Tuohy, Sean Page and all the contributors on their work and wish the Club every success as it embarks on its next half-century.”
