Galway Daily news two east Galway schools get funding for improvements

Two schools in Kinvara and Ballinasloe have received grant money to provide more space and improve their infrastructure.

Galway East TD Sean Canney confirmed that Scoil Iosaif Naofa N.S, Kinvara and Kilglass N.S in Ahascragh, Ballinasloe have both received funding for improvement works.

Scoil Iosaif Naofa has gotten funding from the Additional Accommodation scheme for building a new classroom, storage room, and bathroom.

The works for the primary school in Kinvara are currently in the design stage.

The Additional Accommodation Scheme is meant to ensure that schools have enough classroom space for their students each year where the school’s existing space is insufficient.

Where the need is likely to be for more than three years, the Department of Education can provide grant aid to either buy a prefab or build a permanent classroom.

Kilglass National School has received an Emergency Works grant for works on the school’s electrical systems.

The Ballinasloe school was granted the emergency funding from the Department earlier this week.

The Emergency Works Scheme exists to give urgent funding to schools with a situation that requires immediate attention.
