Incumbent president Michael D Higgins topped the poll in Galway West with 29,612 votes (62.4%).
Peter Casey fell into second place with a hefty 10,821 first preference vote (22.8%).
In behind Casey coming in third was Joan Freeman with 2,445 votes (5.1%).
Sinn Féin’s Líadh Ni Riada finished in a disappointing fourth place with 2,161 votes (4.6%).
Sean Gallagher was next in 5th place with a vote tally of 1,783 (3.8%).
Finally in keeping with the theme of the day so far, Gavin Duffy finished in last place with merely 661 votes (1.4%).
The total votes cast in the Galway West constituency was 47,482.
