Heavy rainfall is expected in Galway on Saturday night as Tropical Storm Ernesto makes landfall in Ireland.
Met Eireann have issued a status Yellow weather warning from 8pm on Saturday night until 8am on Sunday morning.
Despite the fact that we will only be seeing the tail-end of the tropical storm, intense rain could see 20mm or more falling in short space of time.
A marine advisory has also been issued for all small craft, warning that Southwest winds will reach force 6 or 7 on all Irish coasts.
Ernesto is the fifth named storm in this year’s Atlantic Hurricane season.
Galway city council have advised that emergency crews will be on standby tomorrow night in case they are needed.

Storm Ernesto hit Newfoundland, Canada late on Wednesday according to US National Hurricane Centre, and is currently making its way across the Atlantic.
Fortunately, while Sunday will start off damp with rain and mist, the weather is expected to pick up quickly in the morning for a mostly dry day.
Which is good news for the people who will be making their way to Croke Park or packing Eyre square for the All Ireland minor and senior Hurling finals.
The minors are up first with Galway v Kilkenny set to start at 13:15, and the seniors, Galway v Limerick will follow at 15:30.
Galway Business Association is once again bringing the ‘Big Screen’ to Eyre square where thousands are expected to watch the matches.
Last year Galway took home both the senior and minor titles and the hope for a repeat is strong.
