Gardaí have confirmed the death of a woman in a farm accident at Curracuggeen, Headford yesterday.
The 54-year-old was tending her cattle in a field some time between 6am and 12:45pm on Monday when the incident occurred.
An Garda Síochána believe that the woman was fatally injured by the cattle.
The woman was pronounced dead by a local doctor called to the scene at around 1pm.
Her body has been removed to University College Hospital Galway to await a post-mortem examination.
The Health and Safety Authority say there were no witnesses and are treating the incident as a workplace accident.
It is the 13th farm fatality so far this year and took place just at the start of Farm Safety week 2018.
