Clarinbridge under 11 hurling

The 2018 County Championships in Hurling, Football, Camogie and Girls Football kick off this weekend (16th – 17th June) with the finals taking place in Ballinderreen on Saturday, 23rd June. 

Mountbellew will play host to the Gaelic Football Blitzes on Saturday, 16th June with 14 teams competing across three age groups.  The under 10 Gaelic Football begins at 11am, the under 12 Girls Gaelic Football at 12pm and the under 14 Girls Gaelic Football at 1pm.

Moylough/Mountbellew, Claregalway/Lackagh, Cortoon/Lavally, Oranmore/Maree and Clarinbridge will do battle for the under 10 title.  Barna/Furbo, Dunmore/Garrafrauns/Kiltevna, Caherlistrane/Kilcoona and Oughterard collide for under 12 glory.

And Barna/Furbo, Caherlistrane/Kilcoona and Claregalway/Lackagh hope to go home with double gold medals as they challenge for the under 14 crown along with Corofin/Belclare/Sylane.  The finalists in the three categories will qualify for their respective finals on Saturday, 23rd June.

The camogie takes centre stage on Sunday morning (17th June) with action kicking off in Kinvara at 10.30am.  Eight areas are looking for the two final places in Ballinderreen the following Saturday with four quarter-finals proceeding two semi-finals.

Hosts Kinvara begin the under 14 competition when they entertain Galway City East; Ardrahan meet reigning All-Ireland champions Athenry; Kilbeacanty and Beagh will clash; followed by Bullaun/New Inn verses Gort.

After lunch, the hurling tournament begins, also in Kinvara, with another eight teams dreaming of county glory and a place in the Connacht championships.

Gort face Moycullen in the under 11 competition’s opening game at 1pm; Claregalway/Lackagh and Bullaun/New Inn are next on stage; Athenry and Ardrahan meet again; and Clarinbridge take on Kinvara.

The five county champions will represent Galway in the Connaught Finals in July.  And any provincial winners will advance to the National Finals in University of Limerick on the weekend of August 17th – 19th.
