Galway GAA are advising people that traffic could be slow in the city before the Galway vs Sligo match at Pearse Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Because it is a Bank Holiday Weekend, visitor numbers to the city is expected to be high and Galway GAA are advising people to allow sufficient time to get to the match.
Those travelling from the east of the City should also be aware that there is a music festival at Galway Airport throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Carnmore Cross and the R381 (Claregalway/Oranmore link road) and R339 (Monivea Road) routes should be avoided.
The following Car Parks are designated for this Event.
Colaiste Einde: 547 spaces (Parking fee)
GTI (Fr.Griffin Rd.) 200 Car parking spaces (hard surface)
St. Mary College: 922 spaces (Parking fee)
In addition, patrons are encouraged to park in Car Parks in Galway City and to walk or travel by public transport to/from Pearse Stadium.
The 401 Bus will Bus service from Eyre Square to Salthill will operate every 15 minutes from 1pm.
Patrons should avoid illegal parking and obstructing bicycle lanes along Western Distributor Road as illegal parking has been ticketed at recent events.
St Mary’s and GTI are at worst no more than 5 minutes additional walk. Colaiste Einde is less than 5 minutes from THE nearest Stadium entrance.
