Galway City Council has announced that Eyre Square North will be closed to traffic from this weekend to prepare for the Christmas Market.
The square will be closed from the junction of Eyre Street to the junction of Williamsgate Street in order to enable the annual market.
The period of the closure will be from Sunday, November 3 until Wednesday, January 8.
Galway Christmas Market attracted more than 450,000 visitors last year over the course of two months.
More than 50 wooden chalets served hot food and drinks to tourists and locals alike during the cold winter days while the browsed the many craft goods and trinkets for sale.
Returning big attracts include Santa’s Grotto, the Big Wheel, Carousel, and the Bier Keller.
The Christmas Market itself is expected to open next Friday, November 8 and remain in place until early January.
